Frequently asked questions

Last updated November 6, 2026

Twelve questions about how 20 products were chosen, how the score is built, where prices come from and how we make money.
Are these products actually tested by you?

No. Every product on this site is labelled "Not hands-on tested" and our score is built from published specifications, not from pushing a stroller or chewing a teether. We say it on every card because the distinction matters: we can tell you the UPPAbaby Vista V3 weighs 27.6 lb, but not how it feels on a kerb.

How is your score calculated?

Four weighted factors: performance and safety 40%, ease of use 25%, comfort 20%, value 15%. Each is scored 0–5 and the weighted sum becomes the score out of five. The weights are fixed before we look at results and are printed on the methodology page.

Where do your prices come from?

From each brand's own site, read on the date printed next to the price. They are catalogue snapshots, not live checkout prices. We do not scrape retailers, because retailer prices include promotions we cannot verify.

Why do some specifications say "Not published"?

Because the brand does not state them. Mockingbird does not publish weight, folded dimensions or maximum load; several IKEA crib listings do not publish material or mattress positions. We leave the row blank rather than estimate it from a similar product or copy another review site.

Why are there no crossed-out prices or promo codes?

A struck-through price is a claim about the past. We hold no verified price history for any product here, so we show no crossed-out prices at all. Promo codes need an issuer and an expiry date; we have neither, so the fields stay empty rather than being filled with a fake countdown.

How do you make money?

Affiliate commission. Outbound links go through a redirect on this domain and may carry an affiliate tag; if you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There are no ads, no sponsored posts and no paid placements.

Can a brand pay for a higher position?

No. No brand has paid for a position and we do not accept payment for placement or for a score. Commission is one input among several — the cheapest stroller wins our travel category and the most expensive wins overall, which would be reversed if payout decided rank.

How often are prices and rankings updated?

Prices are re-checked against brand pages periodically and the date is stamped on every card. Rankings are reviewed weekly. There is no automated price feed yet, so if a date looks old, treat the price as old.

What happens if a product is recalled?

It comes off the ranking the same day and its review carries a notice at the top. It does not quietly slide down the list. We check the CPSC feed during the weekly pass.

Why only 20 products?

Because 20 is what we can verify properly: read the brand page, record what is missing, score it on the same four weights, and write a review that names the compromises. A longer list would mean padded entries or unverified specs.

Do you sell products or ship anything?

No. We are an editorial site, not a retailer. We do not take orders, process payments or handle returns. Product links go to the brand or retailer, and their terms apply.

How do I report an error?

Email data@mamapicklab.com with the product, the field and a link to the source. Corrections get priority over every other type of message and are logged on the updates page.

Still stuck?

The methodology page explains the weighting in more detail, the disclaimer covers affiliate relationships and safety limits, and the contact page tells you which inbox to use.
